Job summary

NRC Health is hiring for a senior engineering role focused on cloud-native platform engineering. You will design, deploy, and maintain scalable software and infrastructure in a healthcare context, leveraging Kubernetes, AWS, IaC, and CI/CD to deliver reliable patient and provider experiences.

You will collaborate across teams, drive observability and automated processes, and use AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality and delivery speed. Lincoln-area candidates encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering experience developing production applications.
• Experience administering Kubernetes clusters (Amazon EKS preferred).
• Experience working with AWS cloud services (EKS, RDS, IAM, S3, Route 53, ALB, CloudWatch).
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
• Experience automating infrastructure, deployments, or operational workflows.
• Understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, distributed systems, and modern application design.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and logging platforms.
• Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, etc.
• Willingness to rapidly learn and adopt AI-powered engineering workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mindset.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance customer-facing product functionality across our healthcare platform.
• Own the software and services you build, designing for reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based application deployments.
• Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code to provision cloud resources.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, automated software delivery.
• Build reusable infrastructure modules and deployment patterns for consistency and scalability.
• Automate operational processes to reduce manual effort and improve platform reliability.
• Collaborate with software engineers to improve deployment processes and developer workflows.
• Monitor production environments and continuously improve observability and health.
• Identify and resolve scalability, performance, reliability, and operational challenges.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement durable solutions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery and code quality.
• Participate in architecture discussions and influence long-term platform direction.
• Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code.
