Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced Cloud Native Specialist to provide expert guidance to application development teams on containerization, building, deploying, running, and monitoring Kubernetes and GCP Cloud Run based platforms across Ford’s environments.

You will develop guides, samples, and CI/CD patterns, and help resolve complex production and pipeline issues, diving into code as needed to drive reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Applied Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• 5 years of experience with Developing Cloud Native applications and applications written in Spring Boot and Java EE.
• 4 years of experience with Running applications in and deploying applications to Red Hat OpenShift, GKE or other Kubernetes environments or Knative environments including GCP Cloud Run.
• 4 years of experience with Developing and creating CI/CD pipelines with either Tekton or Jenkins.
• 4 years of experience with Performing application containerization with tools including Docker, Buildah and Podman.
• 4 years of experience with Performing Linux administration and shell scripting.
• 3 years of experience with Creating technical guides, patterns and learning materials intended for use by readers inexperienced with application containerization and Kubernetes.
• 2 years of experience with Integrating applications with monitoring tools including Dynatrace, Fluent Bit, Splunk, Prometheus or Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance to application development teams concerning containerization, building, deploying, running and monitoring Cloud Native, legacy and COTS applications in Ford’s Container-based platforms (Kubernetes and GCP Cloud Run)
• Work with other teams to evaluate and adopt new container, cloud and Kubernetes related technologies
• Develop detailed guides, patterns, videos, workshops, sample code, reference CI/CD pipelines and utilities for members of the Ford Software Development community
• Identify and solve complex production and CI/CD pipeline issues while being able to dive deeply into application code
