Job summary

LaunchDarkly is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Engineering team responsible for our foundational infrastructure, including AWS accounts, networking, multi-region Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps workflows, and disaster recovery. This frontline leadership role focuses on operational health and scalable automation.

Qualifications

• Experience managing an infrastructure or platform team.
• Ownership of incident response and service-level objectives.
• Led multi-quarter migrations or insourcing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a senior Cloud Engineering team, providing expectations, coaching, performance management, and career development support.
• Own the operational health of cloud infrastructure, including incident response, on-call health, SLAs, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Launch and deliver a multi-quarter infrastructure insourcing program with sequencing, dependencies, milestones and a successful transition.
• Guide priorities and tradeoffs across AWS infrastructure, networking, multi-region Kubernetes, IaC, GitOps, datastore operations, and compliance.
• Build leverage through software, automation, and paved paths for product engineering teams to use infrastructure safely and independently.
• Support migrations by providing guidance, patterns, and enablement while maintaining ownership boundaries with partner teams.
• Establish team norms for AI-assisted engineering and identify opportunities to reduce toil through AI and automation.
• Maintain team health and continuity through change, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable environment.
• Partner with Service Frameworks, Core Platform, Revenue Platform, Data Platform, and product engineering teams on shared infrastructure priorities and dependencies.
• Communicate roadmaps, operational risks, investment needs, and progress clearly to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Participate in hiring and team planning as the organization grows.
