Job summary

Frontier Nursing University is seeking a Systems and Network Administrator to manage the university’s Microsoft 365 environment, identity systems, and cloud resources in AWS and Azure, with on‑premises servers and campus networking as supporting duties.

The role reports to the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager, has no direct managerial responsibility, and requires strong PowerShell scripting, documentation, and a willingness to work occasional nights or weekends to resolve incidents.

Qualifications

• Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Entra ID and Active Directory account lifecycle, authentication, and access control.
• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud services and on-premises infrastructure.
• PowerShell scripting ability or willingness to develop it.
• Windows and Linux system administration, virtualization, and backup/recovery practices.
• Networking basics: IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, switching and wireless issues.
• Familiarity with SQL Server and MySQL databases.
• Cybersecurity practices including authentication and endpoint protection.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills; able to resolve issues with limited supervision.
• Ability to decide and act with sound judgment; occasional night/weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Intune.
• Manage identity in Entra ID and Active Directory, including account lifecycle and access control.
• Administer AWS and Azure resources (compute, storage, backup, monitoring).
• Support Windows Server systems, virtualization, backup, and recovery operations.
• Assist with campus network administration and coordinate with MSP for complex routing or firewall matters.
• Support the university's information security program and tooling.
• Utilize PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API to automate tasks and generate reports.
• Serve as escalation point for Service Desk on infrastructure/M365 issues.
• Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations with cross-functional teams.
• Follow change management; maintain documentation of configurations and asset inventory.
• Serve as primary technical backup to the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager and mentor technicians.
• Adhere to the Culture of Caring and perform other duties as assigned.
