Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join our growing practice, delivering automation for cloud and application development. You will work on build/release, CI/CD, and security-focused process improvements with a collaborative, fast-paced team in the federal contracting domain.

Preferred candidates have 3–5 years of experience across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), DevSecOps, and automation tooling, and are capable of mentoring junior engineers while advancing continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field; 2 years IT experience if non-IT degree
• At least 1 relevant technical certification
• 3 years experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• 3 years experience with Git SCM providers (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
• 3 years experience with programming/scripting languages
• 3 years DevSecOps experience in Agile environment
• 3 years experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes
• 3 years experience with infrastructure as code and orchestration
• 3 years experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI)
• 3 years experience integrating deployments with DevSecOps tooling and orchestration
• Experience with test automation in CI/CD (performance, security, functional)

Responsibilities

• Establish development tools and automation infrastructure
• Bridge stakeholder needs to developers
• Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes
• Review code, test results, and ensure security
• Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes
• Collaborate with developers to ensure processes work as intended
• Support cloud apps/infrastructure via infrastructure as code and large-scale deployments
• Document as-is state, perform gap analyses, and articulate options
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to modernize systems
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous DevSecOps improvement
• Present status updates and provide cross-training to DevOps team
