Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join its growing practice delivering cloud-based DevSecOps features for development teams in Washington, DC. You will automate CI/CD pipelines, enforce security by design, and mentor junior staff in agile environments.

Requires 5–7 years of cloud experience, strong IaC, containerization, and experience with Jenkins, GitHub CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform. U.S. government clearance eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
• 5+ Years of cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• 5+ Years with Git SCM providers (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).
• 5+ Years of programming/scripting languages.
• 5+ Years of DevSecOps in Agile environment.
• 3+ Years of Docker/Kubernetes experience.
• 5+ Years of IaC and orchestration.
• 5+ Years building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
• 5+ Years integrating deployments with DevSecOps tooling and orchestration.
• Experience with test automation in CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Establishing development tools and infrastructure for automation
• Understanding stakeholder needs and conveying to developers
• Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Root-cause analysis and implementing software updates/fixes
• Collaborate with developers to ensure processes work as intended
• Support enterprise Cloud apps/infrastructure through IaC and automated server/network configurations
• Document as-is state, perform gap analysis, and produce actionable artifacts
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to modernize systems
• Mentor team members and act as individual contributor
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of services
• Present status updates and cross-train DevOps peers
