Job summary

Smurfit WestRock seeks a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join the Public Cloud Engineering - Cloud Center of Excellence. The role focuses on finance and cloud cost disciplines, incl. accruals, month-end charges, and cost allocation to IT business partners.

You will evangelize cost models, enabling budgets and strategic cost save opportunities. The ideal candidate will have cloud cost governance experience, strong stakeholder management, and a track record in delivering cost optimization across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Computer Science or relevant work experience or equivalent military experience.
• 4-8 years overall IT experience.
• 3+ years of Enterprise-level cloud platform experience with Azure or AWS.
• Proven experience with cloud providers infrastructure (network/compute), services, and usage models.
• Knowledge of intersection of cloud financial management and machine learning infrastructure, showcasing skills in optimizing GPU costs, modeling AI workload expenses, and implementing governance.
• Proven experiences are creating governance on cloud spend.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• Proficiency in monitoring cloud spend.
• Proficiency in reporting and tracking cloud spend.

Responsibilities

• Develop, measure, report and maintain KPIs for tracking real time costs, consumption, and metrics for product level visibility.
• Executes deployment of costing templates for delivery of products and services financial requirements.
• Enable product teams and end users to move towards self-service cloud cost reporting.
• Develop resource tagging strategy to create accountability related to shared cloud services expenses.
• Prioritizes work from multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work with Project Managers from other teams/departments to complete work.
• Operationalize FinOps frameworks and promote cost awareness and accountability.
• Create tools for monitoring cost budgets and overages.
