This role involves leading a field engineering team to help customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The solutions include Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, MLops platforms, data platforms, and more. As Canonical expands into industries like telco, finance, healthcare, and media, we develop new open source solutions to meet their needs.
Engineering Managers at Canonical are expected to be outstanding engineers who can troubleshoot, contribute technically, and lead teams. They should be capable of shaping team direction, focus, and delivery, while also mentoring engineers in soft skills.
The role of a Cloud Field Engineering Manager involves managing a team of cloud solutions architects working directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions, including Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc. The manager will handle line management, career development, technical representation, and collaboration with other teams and customers. Active participation in presales is also required.
