Job summary

San Diego Community Power (SDCP) is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize its IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems. This technical lead role bridges operations support and advanced system design to enable reliable, scalable technology across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong IT infrastructure engineering in a Cloud environment.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise systems platforms.
• Experience with networking, firewalls, and system security concepts.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong understanding of system integrations and infrastructure design.
• Experience across infrastructure, applications, and security.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work across departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Experience in the energy sector and/or California state programs is desirable.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud; relevant certifications (Microsoft, Azure, AWS, Cloud, or systems engineering).

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, implementation, and optimization of IT infrastructure, including servers, cloud platforms, networks, and enterprise systems.
• Define and enforce system architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices across the IT environment.
• Configure and optimize environments for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Assist in deployment and integration of enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365 and cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements aligned with priorities and long-term IT strategy.
• Perform advanced systems administration for enterprise applications, infrastructure, and identity platforms.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues as escalation point.
• Partner with IT Systems Analyst to improve service delivery, operational processes, and reliability.
• Partner with Cybersecurity Analyst to implement system security controls and configurations.
