We are hiring an Engineering Manager.

The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. Projects include Kubernetes, OpenStack, and other technologies, providing exposure to the latest in a fast-paced engineering environment. As a Cloud Engineering Manager for the BootStack team, you will manage engineers overseeing daily managed services, including customer service, operations, and product improvements. Collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations is critical.

Location: This is a globally remote role.

The role entails:

1. Manage a growing engineering team to optimize development and operations quality and velocity.
2. Identify and measure team health indicators.
3. Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes.
4. Represent the BootStack team to stakeholders, customers, and external teams.
5. Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
6. Meet service level agreements for global customer deployments.
7. Deliver quality managed services consistently and promptly.

What we are looking for in you:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technology field.
• Proven experience in software delivery (Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar) and/or managing operations teams.
• Experience with OpenStack.
• Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
• Linux system administration experience; Ubuntu/Debian is a plus.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Experience managing distributed teams.
• Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems.
• Knowledge of cloud topologies and technologies.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% for team and customer meetings.
