Job Purpose and Role
We are seeking a Cloud Security Engineer with an information security background to be the primary administrator and security agent for our system and telecommunications.
This role maintains upgrades, maintenance, and any installations needed for our employees.
The System Administrator will educate our employees and act as the first point of contact for support within the business for technical needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor all user accounts for least privileges as well as creation of new accounts and removal of old. This includes Linux system accounts, AWS IAM accounts, VOIP, Email, and others.
- Architect, design, implement, and deploy technical security controls on appropriate application of existing security services to solve their problems or enable new business opportunities.
- Research and evaluate new security technologies to be used as point solutions to gaps where the project is unable to take advantage of or needing greater functionality than reusable enterprise security services.
- Enhance security team accomplishments and competences by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for team members; teaching improved processes, mentoring team members.
- Plan security systems by evaluating network and security technologies.
- Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
- Implement security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures.
- Support assurance compliance to required standards, procedures, guidelines, and processes.
- Develop risk-based mitigation strategies for infrastructure, platform, operating systems, and applications.
- Create and maintain vulnerability management policies, procedures, and training.
- Design and implement security automation wherever possible.
- Respond to calls and emails, provide fast follow-up, and identify solutions.
- Collaborate with internal customers to elaborate on project statuses and achievements.
- Perform server administration tasks, including user management, security protocols, and network maintenance.
- Monitor for bugs, review incoming data, and use existing tools to respond to issues as they arise.
- Develop and test new technologies as needed.
- Perform routine audits of systems and conduct nightly backups as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in technology or computer science.
- 5+ years experience in cloud infrastructure and information security.
- Competent with Bash scripting.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with industry-leading vulnerability scanners and understanding vulnerability reports.
- Familiarity with the Common Vulnerability Scoring System.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in IAAS and PAAS on a global scale.
- Strong experience with cloud virtualization technologies: Docker and AWS.
- Understanding of AWS shared responsibility model from a security standpoint.
- Time management skills and prior technical support experience.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, equipment, technology, and performance-monitoring tools such as Linux, Nagios, or Icinga.
