Job summary

FNBO in Omaha, Nebraska seeks a Cloud Engineer to drive the delivery of cloud solutions on the AWS platform. You will automate infrastructure, migrate workloads, and partner with development teams to streamline release pipelines in a hybrid work environment.

You will build IaC with Terraform and Ansible, enhance observability with Dynatrace, troubleshoot production issues, document architectures, and contribute to our cloud strategy and IT transformation.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of engineering experience on a major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
  • 2–4 years of experience with server administration (Linux preferred), networking or infrastructure.
  • Experience with AWS services: Networking (VPC, Subnets, Route Tables, Security Groups, IAM, Lambda, S3, etc.), Compute (EC2, AutoScaling), Databases (RDS/Aurora), and monitoring (CloudWatch).
  • Strong scripting/programming background (Bash, Python, YAML).
  • Fluency with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code practices (Terraform, Ansible).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a resilient, secure, scalable cloud-hosted platform for FNBO's cloud transformation.
  • Automate infrastructure and enable self-service via IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and evolve pipelines (CI/CD) using Terraform and Ansible and GitLab.
  • Leverage Dynatrace to identify and address performance gaps and MTTR.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and escalate to vendors when needed.
  • Create architectural diagrams, runbooks, and operational documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in communities of practice.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery testing for the hybrid multi-cloud environment.

You will use cloud-based technologies to modernize infrastructure, provide infrastructure automation services, and migrate workloads to the cloud. You will also partner with software development teams to streamline and automate release management pipelines.As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in helping FNBO achieve its cloud computing strategy and driving our IT transformation efforts.About This Role:RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes industry best practices to continuously develop and maintain a resilient, secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-hosted platform to support the ongoing cloud transformation for FNBO.Assist with the inputs for recommendations for cloud design, infrastructure design, software development design/architecture, application frameworks, and/or interfaces.With some guidance, implement tools and automation to provide self-service capabilities to the organization for building, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring cloud-based infrastructure and cloud platform services (Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code).Automate and evolve the pipelines to continuously integrate and deploy code (CI/CD).Leverage technologies (such as Terraform and Ansible) and scripting languages to build automations to enhance the efficiency and reliability of processes.Leverage the observability platform (Dynatrace) to identify and address cloud infrastructure deficiencies, availability gaps, performance bottlenecks, and improve mean time to resolution (MTTR).Troubleshoot production issues and respond to after-hours escalations. Escalate support issues to vendors (when necessary) to drive timely resolution of issues for critical systems.Collaborate with peer organizations, product delivery teams, and support organizations to provide guidance on technical matters in a clear, concise, and easily understood manner.Create and deliver documentation and presentations to developers and operations teams to share knowledge (Architecture diagrams, system flows, run books, procedures, etc.).Actively participate in community of practices and demonstrate a solid understanding of cloud computing technologies.Follow emerging industry trends and build proof of concepts to evaluate current cloud technologies, concepts, designs, and provide new recommendations.Periodically assist with the testing and maintenance of the disaster recovery plan for our hybrid multi-cloud environment.The Ideal Candidate for This Role:EXPERIENCE2-4 years of engineering experience on a major cloud platform required (AWS preferred)2-4 years of experience with server administration (Linux preferred), networking or infrastructure requiredExperience with AWS services (Preferred):Networking: VPC / Subnets / Route Tables / VPG / Security GroupsCompute: EC2 / AutoScaling / Load BalancersDatabase: RDS / Aurora / DynamoDBOther: SQS / SNS / S3 / IAM / EKS / CloudWatch / CloudFront / Kinesis / LambdaExperience with Infrastructure and Application Monitoring conceptsExperience administering Kubernetes clustersA strong background in scripting and/or programming languages (BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python, YAML, Java, etc.)4 years of experience in the IT fieldKNOWLEDGECloud certifications from the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) preferredKnowledge in designing & implementing infrastructure-as-a-code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab.Knowledge of containerization technologies such as EKS, ECS and DockerKnowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers etc.Knowledge of private cloud and hybrid cloud configurations requiredKnowledge of ITSM deliveryGENERAL SKILLSStrong commitment to customer service and service enablementAble to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a cross-functional teamSelf-driven & motivated, with a strong work ethic and a passion for problem solvingA desire to conceptually understand our businessExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent influencing and reasoning skills; good at conflict resolution and consensus buildingExperience working with third-party vendorsUnderstanding of Scrum Agile methodology and have worked on a Scrum teamAble to participate in on-call rotationCandidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.Compensation:Compensation range (base pay): $79,363.00-$130,949.00This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.Work Environment:It is anticipated that the incumbent in this role will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing in-person collaboration three (3) days a week with remote flexibility two (2) days a week.
