Qualifications

• 5+ years' applied experience Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Java Development.
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Terraform and database querying languages.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and evaluating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure handling of inputs/outputs.

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Cloud Engineer with Java experience for a contract to hire opportunity in Plano, TX

Job responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
• Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
• Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years' applied experience Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Java Development
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Terraform and database querying languages
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
• Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently
• Experience with Cloud Technologies, in particular with Public Cloud and AWS

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Expertise in modernization in cloud platform from large, complex ecosystem
• experience with microservices and event-driven architecture
• Familiarity with Azure or GCP
