Job summary

Pathward, National Association is seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to optimize, automate, and support our AWS infrastructure in a hybrid environment. You will ensure reliability, scalability, and security while collaborating with Architecture and DevOps teams to drive cloud solutions.

You will own design specs, monitor performance, and contribute to cost efficiency and security improvements across AWS services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Typically 3+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
  • AWS Expertise: a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience.
  • Working knowledge of EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch.
  • Strong AWS security practices including IAM and network security.
  • Experience with AWS network infrastructure (VPCs, SGs, NACLs, routing, VPNs, Direct Connect).
  • Monitoring tools like CloudWatch/CloudTrail; familiarity with third-party solutions.
  • Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Initiative, self-discipline, communication, teamwork and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Designs a cloud strategy and manages adaptation processes.
  • Plans, maintains and supports cloud computing environment.
  • Monitors cloud resource usage, performance, and security posture.
  • Creates technical design specs and reference architectures on AWS.
  • Collaborates with multiple teams to meet SLAs, KRIs and KPIs.
  • On-call rotation for production-critical AWS events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in the optimization, automation, and support of our AWS cloud environments. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the provision, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of our AWS infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. You will collaborate closely with Architecture, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to align with our business objectives and deliver cutting-edge cloud solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Creates a well-informed cloud strategy and manages the adaption process.
  • Designs, plans, manages, maintains, and supports, and any other technological duties associated with the organization's cloud computing environment.
  • Monitors the consumption of cloud resources, requests fulfillment turnaround, application performance, and systems security posture and evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software as needed.
  • Designs technical solutions on AWS public cloud environments, creating functional design specifications, reference architectures, and other technical specifications.
  • Works cross-functionally with multiple teams to analyze cloud service provider SLAs, KRI, and KPI metrics. Collaborates with Engineering teams to enable their applications to run on applicable Cloud Platform. Works closely with IT security to monitor the company's cloud privacy.
  • On-Call Rotation: Part of a team that rotates on-call duties for production-critical events in AWS.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Typically 3+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
  • AWS Expertise: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with AWS.
  • AWS Services: Working knowledge of key AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Security: Strong understanding of AWS security best practices and experience implementing security measures, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) and network security.
  • Network Configuration: Experience with AWS network infrastructure, including VPCs, security groups, NACLs, and familiarity with routing, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and familiarity with third-party monitoring solutions.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Knowledge of AWS services and best practices for achieving high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar technologies
  • Initiative: Actively participate in identifying changes in technology, processes, and procedures that improve team and company effectiveness and performance.
  • Self Discipline: Staying focused, motivated, organized, and present in a remote work environment, managing time effectively, adhering to schedules, avoiding distractions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying updated with the latest AWS services and industry best practices.

Salary range: $72,000 - $120,000

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay within the range will be determined by multiple factors which can include but are not limited to a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary for your location during the hiring process. Ranges may be modified in the future.
