Job summary

Populous, a global design firm based in Portland, OR, seeks a Cloud Engineer with 5+ years of experience working with AWS and/or Azure to join our Global IT team. You will design, implement and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, collaborating across time zones to support cloud migration and performance optimization.

You will work with multi-cloud environments, configure networks, manage IaC (AWS CDK, TypeScript), and ensure security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Hands-on cloud networking experience (VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing).
• Experience configuring and managing firewalls and security controls (Palo Alto, AWS SGs, NACLs, Azure NSGs, Azure Firewall).
• Infrastructure-as-code tools experience.
• Designing secure network connectivity (VPNs, private endpoints, hybrid networking).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure environments.
• Architect and implement secure network solutions and connectivity.
• Manage firewall configurations and security controls.
• Maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK, TypeScript) and review improvements.
• Monitor performance, availability, and security using cloud tools.
• Support cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud architecture.
• Maintain CI/CD deployment pipelines and related environments.
• Troubleshoot cloud, network, and firewall issues.
• Support deployment infrastructure for web applications and on-premises software distribution.
