Job summary

Populous is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our Global IT team in New York. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on networking, security, and automation.

You will work across time zones to support cloud migration, optimize performance, and ensure best practices across multi-cloud environments. Strong scripting and DevOps expertise are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 5+ years of experience using AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with cloud networking concepts (VPC, VNets, subnets, routing).
• Experience configuring and managing firewalls and security controls (Palo Alto, AWS Security Groups, NACLs, Azure NSGs).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (AWS CDK, Terraform, etc.).
• Experience in designing secure network connectivity (VPN, private endpoints, hybrid networking).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Designing, deploying and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure environments.
• Architecting secure network solutions including VPCs, VNets, subnets and routing.
• Configuring and managing firewalls and security controls.
• Maintaining infrastructure-as-code and proposing improvements.
• Monitoring performance, availability and security with cloud and third-party tools.
• Supporting cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud architecture.
• Maintaining secure connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute).
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment targets.
• Troubleshooting cloud, network and firewall issues.
