Job summary

Ara is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work within a collaborative team that builds a secure cloud-based development environment in Raleigh, NC. Candidates must have a BS/MS in Computer Science and relevant experience in cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

The right candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, and must be eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance. ARA values passion and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of relevant experience for BS degree or 3-5 years for MS degree.
• Must be eligible for DoD Secret Clearance.
• Require DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification within 60 days.

Skills

Hands-on experience with AWS

Proficiency in C++, Java, Go or Python

Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, ECS/EKS

Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins

Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible

Basic knowledge of monitoring tools

Education

Job description

You will be working on a team that is building a cloud-based development environment. You will work with a multi-disciplinary collaborative team of hardware, software engineers and security specialists to design and implement a secure cloud-based software development and maintenance environment. You will be part of our employee-owned international research and engineering company. ARA is recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences, and you will be on this team.

Position Requirements

• S. Citizenship (No exceptions; green card holders are not eligible).
• Eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• BS degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience or MS degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Successfully obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CCNA-Security, etc.) within 60 days of hire.
• Good oral & written communication skills
• Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team & department performance
• Willing to work on-site, daily, at our Raleigh, NC location

• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms
• Proficiency in programming languages like: C++, Java, Go or Python
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like: Kubernetes, Helm, Amazon ECS/EKS or OpenShift
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as: Jenkins, GitLab or Argo
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack)
• Basic knowledge of monitoring tools similar to: AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus or Grafana
