Job summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA, Inc.) seeks an experienced Cloud Engineer (Azure/Terraform Background) for a 12-month+ consulting engagement in Brandon, FL. This role is onsite 3–4 days per week and focuses on designing, building, and maturing an Azure cloud environment.

The ideal candidate brings broad hands-on Azure infrastructure experience, Terraform IaC, Azure DevOps, and automation to implement scalable infrastructure, pipelines, governance, and security across the environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and building Microsoft Azure infrastructure in large enterprises.
• Hands-on Terraform IaC implementation for Azure deployments.
• Experience building Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
• Experience in cloud buildout, transformation, or modernization rather than just maintaining existing infra.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, private connectivity, and hybrid setups.
• Familiarity with PowerShell and Azure CLI for automation.
• Experience with Azure Monitor and Azure Backup.
• Understanding of CAF and Well-Architected Framework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services.
• Mature the Azure cloud environment with scalable, repeatable patterns and practices.
• Develop reusable IaC solutions using Terraform and automated deployment processes.
• Build and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
• Design and implement Azure networking solutions including Virtual WAN and private endpoints.
• Implement governance and security controls (RBAC, Defender, Policy).
• Develop automation using Azure CLI and PowerShell.
• Implement and support Azure monitoring, backup, and operations management.
• Support identity and access management including MFA and PIM.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver secure, scalable Azure solutions.
• Apply cloud architecture best practices to improve reliability and efficiency.

SGA is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer (Azure/Terraform Background) for a 12-month+ consulting engagement with one of our premier utility clients in Brandon, FL. This position will be onsite 3–4 days per week. The ideal candidate will have broad hands‑on Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience combined with strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, Azure DevOps, and automation. This role will be heavily involved in the buildout and maturation of a developing Azure cloud environment, requiring someone comfortable designing, building, and implementing cloud infrastructure and automation rather than solely maintaining an established environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services.
• Help build and mature the organization's Azure cloud environment, establishing scalable and repeatable infrastructure patterns and practices.
• Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, including modules and automated deployment processes.
• Build and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and configuration.
• Design and implement Azure networking solutions, including Virtual WAN, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity.
• Implement Azure governance and security controls, including Azure Policy, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Azure Advisor, Secure Score, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Develop automation using Azure CLI and PowerShell to streamline cloud provisioning and operational processes.
• Implement and support Azure monitoring, backup, and operational management capabilities.
• Support Azure identity and access management, including hybrid identity, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Conditional Access, and MFA.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and other technology teams to establish secure, scalable, and supportable Azure solutions.
• Apply cloud architecture and engineering best practices to improve the reliability, security, consistency, and efficiency of the Azure environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience designing and building Microsoft Azure infrastructure, preferably within large enterprise environments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including building and deploying Azure infrastructure from code.
• Experience building and supporting Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and working with Git-based development workflows.
• Demonstrated experience working in cloud buildout, transformation, or modernization environments, rather than solely supporting established cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, including private connectivity and hybrid cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of Azure governance, security, and identity/access management capabilities.Experience with PowerShell and Azure CLI for infrastructure automation.
• Experience with Azure Monitor and Azure Backup.
• Strong understanding of enterprise cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and operational best practices.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well‑Architected Framework (WAF) is a plus.
