MANTECH is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer in Springfield, VA to support Azure-based projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. You will help design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient operation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, knowledge of the System Engineering Lifecycle, and DoD 8140 alignment. Opportunity for growth and professional development within a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; or 2 extra years of experience without a degree.
  • Knowledge of System Engineering Lifecycle and Microsoft Azure required.
  • Ability to analyze KPI and SLA data to identify variances and insights.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Azure project tasks, supervise progress, and report regularly.
  • Provide systems engineering and administration for Azure, ITSM, Sentris and integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design and Agile planning using Scrum and MS Project.
  • Identify high-risk areas in cloud environments and propose mitigations.
  • Build relationships with client personnel to ensure satisfaction.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for complex Azure issues and improve reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement by analyzing system performance metrics.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations and troubleshooting steps.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated, career-oriented Junior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Springfield, VA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud technology, particularly within the Microsoft Azure platform. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting our Azure-based projects, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The position involves assisting in the design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure, ensuring systems operate efficiently and securely. Candidates should have a strong foundation in systems engineering, cloud computing, and a desire to grow their expertise in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology, eager to develop their skills, and committed to supporting mission-critical operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least one year of relevant technical experience. Alternatively, candidates with an additional two years of experience without a degree will also be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of the System Engineering Lifecycle phases, Sentris, and Microsoft Azure is essential. Candidates must have proven troubleshooting skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure and cloud-related issues efficiently under tight deadlines. Compliance with DoD 8140.03 (Cybersecurity Workforce Management Program) is required; candidates must either possess or be able to obtain within six months an approved baseline credential aligning with the DoD 8140 Work Role System Administrator (451). Additionally, the ability to analyze KPI and SLA data to identify performance variances and provide actionable insights is highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Serve our Microsoft Azure customers by executing project tasks, supervising work completion, performing quality reviews, and reporting progress regularly.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver systems engineering and administration services for Azure, ITSM, Sentris, and integrated solutions, ensuring seamless operations and optimal performance.
  • Assist in technical design and implementation using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum, including planning, scheduling, and updating program activities via MS Project, Azure DevOps, and other project management tools.
  • Identify high-risk areas within cloud environments and present strategic recommendations to management to mitigate potential issues.
  • Build and maintain influential relationships with key client personnel to ensure client satisfaction and ongoing support.
  • Coordinate root‑cause analysis for complex technical errors within Azure and integrated environments, providing effective solutions to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing system performance metrics and recommending enhancements.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and compliance requirements.
