Job summary

Sotalent is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to design and operate a secure AWS hosting environment for proprietary software. You will bridge architecture and customer success, ensuring health and security of single-tenant clouds while building automation to accelerate deployments.

Responsibilities include migrations from legacy systems, on-call rotations, and collaboration with developers to resolve complex issues across the stack. Strong CI/CD and Linux/Windows experience required.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of AWS experience with S3, EC2, VPC and CloudWatch.
• Strong networking background including VPCs, VPN tunnels, subnets and firewall configuration.
• Infrastructure as Code and automation tools like Ansible, Chef, or AWS SSM.
• Deep experience managing and patching Windows Server environments from 2012 onward.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Python or C#.
• Experience supporting RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
• Database management with SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding encryption standards for data at rest and in flight.
• Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control.
• Knowledge of Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with access control software platforms.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation for production systems.

We are currently representing a global leader in security technology that is expanding its managed services division. Our client is seeking a dedicated professional to join their Cloud Engineering team to help facilitate the transition of major clients from legacy on premises hardware to a high performance AWS hosted environment.

In this role you will act as a bridge between technical architecture and customer success. You will be responsible for the health and security of single tenant cloud environments while developing custom automation tools to streamline deployments and performance monitoring. This is a customer facing position that involves everything from initial onboarding to long term infrastructure scaling and troubleshooting.

Your daily activities will involve a mix of infrastructure design and hands on system maintenance. You will help minimize technical debt for clients by migrating them to a fully managed cloud access control system. The team manages the entire stack from the underlying AWS services to the application layer ensuring top tier cybersecurity and availability.

Required Technical Experience

• Between 3 and 6 years of intensive experience with AWS including S3 EC2 VPC and CloudWatch


• Strong networking background including VPCs VPN tunnels subnets and firewall configuration


• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation tools like Ansible Chef or AWS SSM


• Deep experience managing and patching Windows Server environments from 2012 through current versions


• Expertise in scripting with PowerShell Python or C sharp


• Experience supporting RESTful and SOAP based web services


• Database management and optimization skills with SQL Server MySQL or PostgreSQL


• Understanding of encryption standards for data at rest and in flight


• A degree in Computer Science Systems Engineering or a related technical field


• Experience with CI CD pipelines and version control


• Knowledge of Linux system administration


• Familiarity with access control software platforms


• Ability to produce high quality technical documentation for production systems


• Background working within a Kanban or Agile framework


• Candidates must meet US Person status requirements due to export control regulations.

This position offers a competitive salary range starting at 91200 up to 142000 depending on location and experience level.
