Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and manage a best-in-class cloud platform for a leading investment team in New York City. You will implement scalable AWS-based infrastructure, deploy and maintain Kubernetes (EKS), and drive automation using Terraform and Ansible.

You will work in a hybrid setup (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) with collaboration across engineering and business partners to ensure reliable, secure, and performant cloud services for trading

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in AWS cloud services, networking, storage, and observability.
• Hands-on experience deploying containerized apps in production and managing Kubernetes (EKS).
• Proficiency with IaC and config management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

The Team

The successful candidate will leverage deep technical expertise while helping shape the future direction of the firm's cloud platform in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deep understanding of AWS cloud services, including networking, storage, load balancing, containers, messaging, serverless technologies, and observability solutions.
• Deploy, manage, and scale production Kubernetes (EKS) environments.
• Administer and support Linux-based systems (RHEL and Debian-based distributions).
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Enhance and maintain configuration management frameworks using Ansible.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in mission-critical environments.
• Partner with development teams, business stakeholders, and other internal groups to translate requirements into scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Apply engineering best practices while balancing quality, reliability, and speed of delivery.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated success delivering projects from design through production deployment.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• Strong production support and incident response experience in high-pressure environments.
• Experience managing and operating cloud-native infrastructure at scale.

Preferred Experience

• Building highly available platforms supporting financial services, trading systems, or large-scale internet-facing applications.
• Working within hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Experience in financial services, hedge funds, asset management, or other regulated industries.

Technical Requirements

Required:

• Strong expertise across core AWS services.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications in production.
• Understanding of service mesh concepts and modern distributed systems architectures.
• Strong automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and configuration management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting both cloud and physical infrastructure, including servers, networking hardware, and storage systems.
• Familiarity with modern and emerging AWS services.
• Security-focused mindset with a pragmatic approach to risk management.
