Job description

Our Client, a Real Estate And Financial Services company, is looking for a Cloud Database Engineer for their McLean, VA location.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and troubleshooting database issues.
2. Performing database tuning and query optimization.
3. Ensuring database integrity, security, and compliance.
4. Very well versed with Database Security & Access Management.
5. Database administration experience with supporting traditional DB tech such as Oracle, MongoDB is highly preferable.

Requirements:

1. Experience with PostgreSQL.
2. Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and best practices.
3. Experience with database design, development, and optimization.
4. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL issues.
5. Experience with AWS Aurora features, such as high availability, Global databases, and storage.
6. Experience with Aurora management and monitoring tools.
7. Experience with Aurora's performance and cost optimization strategies.
8. Good understanding of the overall AWS ecosystem and automation tools such as CloudFormation (CFT) and Terraform.
9. Experience with database migration strategies, including planning, execution, and data integrity verification, including use of AWS DMS services.
10. Familiarity with tools and techniques for migrating data between different database systems, e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL Aurora.
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
12. Self-motivated, driven, and creative individual.
13. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience (required).
14. 7+ years working with Postgres DB Engineering, 5+ years with PostgreSQL and Aurora in the AWS Ecosystem, knowledge and experience working with AWS DevOps automation (CFT), solid DB expertise.
