Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking an Information Systems Architect to design, implement, and maintain the organization’s information systems and IT infrastructure. This role will create an architectural framework, align roadmaps with business needs, and collaborate with developers to ensure secure, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities include designing cloud architecture in AWS, configuring VPCs, and deploying ETL services like Glue and AirFlow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 4 years of related work experience for Architect II
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 6 years for Architect III
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 8 years for Architect IV
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 10 years for Architect V

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy cloud architecture in AWS to support UAIR operations.
• Serve as the cloud architect subject-matter expert for UAIR.
• Configure and manage UAIR VPC and other networking configurations in AWS.
• Work with ETL tools to deploy AWS ETL services such as Glue, AirFlow, Step Functions, Lambda.
• Manage on-premises Tableau Server and connect to AWS data.
• Establish and maintain a secure platform with UIT; deploy IAM roles and policies.
• Enable UAIR operations in AWS SageMaker Unified Studio.
• Ensure redundancy and backup for all services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; stay current with cloud computing developments.
• Assist with user requirements and roadmap alignment across information systems.
