Job summary

University of Utah seeks an Information Systems Architect to design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure and information systems supporting UAIR operations on campus. The role collaborates with developers, engineers, and UIT to align roadmaps, ensure secure access, and enable scalable data workflows.

Primary responsibilities include AWS cloud design, VPC management, ETL deployment, and ensuring high availability and security across on‑premises and cloud resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience for Information Systems Architect II
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience for Information Systems Architect III
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience for Information Systems Architect IV
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience for Information Systems Architect V

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy cloud architecture in AWS to support UAIR operations.
• Serve as the cloud architect subject-matter expert for UAIR.
• Configure and manage UAIR VPC and other networking configurations in AWS.
• Work closely with the data management team ETL to deploy AWS ETL services such as Glue, AirFlow, Step functions, Lamda etc.
• Manage infrastructure for an on-premises Tableau Server -connecting to AWS data.
• Work closely with UIT to establish and maintain a secure platform. Configure and deploy AWS IAM roles and polices to enablesecure access.
• Enable and support UAIR operations in AWS SageMaker UnifiedStudio.
• Ensure redundancy and backup for all services.
• Use prior knowledge and creativity to troubleshoot and solve technical issues as they arise.
• Keep up to date with developments on current cloud computing solutions and processes.
