Job summary

Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, TN seeks a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Delta Lake within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. You will integrate data from Ellucian Banner and external APIs to deliver reliable, scalable data for BI analysts and campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and three years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience.
• Experience in computer programming with Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Manage workflows, projects, and training as needed.
• Use Python and SQL to extract/integrate data from Ellucian Banner and external APIs into Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse.
• Design and deploy high-performance Python-based data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Implement performance tuning to improve workloads.
• Work with Microsoft Azure/Fabric cloud services to design robust data architectures.
• Ensure data security and governance best practices.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify data needs and deliver tailored data solutions.
• Design and maintain dashboards and visualizations to track KPIs across college initiatives.
• Assist with project management to ensure timely completion.
• Create scripts/reports for surveys like IPEDS.
• Perform data collection and reporting for faculty/staff requests.
• Other duties as assigned.
