Job summary

TAL is a leading life insurer with a 150-year legacy. We are seeking a Data Engineer to strengthen trusted data foundations, enabling smarter decisions and better customer experiences.

You will join the Data Engineering team, connecting information across TAL in reliable, scalable ways to support data-driven outcomes for customers, partners and colleagues. You will work with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, building production-ready pipelines with SQL, Python

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, software engineering, data engineering or a related field.
• Relevant certifications are desirable.
• Experience in data engineering, software engineering or analytics engineering within a complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Build reliable data pipelines that enable trusted reporting, analytics, operational and AI-enabled outcomes.
• Develop reusable data assets that improve consistency, reduce duplication and accelerate delivery across TAL.
• Modernise legacy data processes into secure, scalable and maintainable cloud-based solutions.
• Embed quality, lineage and governance controls to strengthen trust, transparency and data risk management.
• Optimise data workflows for performance, reliability, cost efficiency and operational resilience.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver practical, reusable solutions that meet business and customer needs.
• Bring experience in data engineering, software engineering or analytics engineering within a complex environment.
• Build and support data pipelines, transformations and curated datasets for reporting, analytics or operational use.
• Work confidently with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar technologies.
• Use SQL and relevant tools such as Python or Spark to deliver reliable, production-ready data solutions.
• Apply sound knowledge of data quality, governance, privacy, security and supportability practices.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, software engineering, data engineering or a related field; relevant certifications are desirable.
