About the Job

The Cloud Data Architect is a customer-facing mid-senior level (depending on experience) technical role. This role will work directly with Enterprise Architecture and Technology Leadership to plan, build, and implement modern data infrastructure and software solutions.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute the development and implementation of data infrastructure on Azure using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Azure SQL Server.
  • Perform analysis on source systems & datasets to build end-state data models for conformed warehousing, define layers of medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), and implement recommendations for maximizing performance and customer experience in both relational and non-relational data ecosystems.
  • Reengineer legacy data workloads such as the Microsoft SQL Server BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS) to the Azure ecosystem in Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory, or other systems using industry standard and proprietary processes & technologies.
  • Develop semantic models and Power BI reports, ensuring user-friendly design experiences and extensible, self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Define and clearly communicate requirements and expectations to stakeholders.
  • Work as a team member across the complete life cycle of delivery including architecture, design, development, testing, and documentation.
Experience
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Microsoft Azure cloud solutions such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Warehousing, or other comparable Azure data tools.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience with Azure DevOps (or comparable build/release and CI/CD tooling), infrastructure-as-code (Azure Resource Manager, Bicep, and/or Terraform preferred) and daily work alongside data engineering and/or software engineering teams.
  • Experience in developing dimensional & semantic data models, extract transform and load (ETL) patterns, and familiarity with Lakehouse design concepts.
  • Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles, patterns and applications for data solutions.
  • Experience with unified data analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Experience supporting production applications or workloads, being able to performance test and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Experience in any cloud AI/ML services or development in notebooks (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
  • Experience in a consultative role or an engineering role working with more than one client environment at any given time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing & PowerPoint presentations.
