Job summary

Symbotic, a US-based robotics warehouse automation company, seeks a frontend-focused engineer to build cloud-based 3D simulation platforms and digital twins. You will create high-fidelity 3D web apps using Three.js, WebGL, and WebGPU to visualize robot movement, warehouse layouts, and fleet behavior in a scalable cloud environment.

The role emphasizes frontend development, modern frameworks, and robotics-inspired visualization, with collaboration across simulation, cloud, and UX teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Computer Graphics, Robotics, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong experience in front-end development and/or 3D application development.
• Experience with React, Vue.js, Angular or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Primary Stack: ReactJS and ThreeJS expertise
• Language: Mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with 3D rendering techniques, including shaders, lighting, and scene optimization
• Plus: Experience with ECS architecture, Blender, robotics systems, or digital twin platforms
• Plus: Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and cloud-based simulation platforms

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based 3D digital twin and simulation applications for robotic warehouse automation systems.
• Build interactive 3D web applications using Three.js, WebGL, WebGPU, and related frontend technologies.
• Develop frontend features to visualize robot movement, warehouse layouts, fleet behavior, telemetry data, and workflows.
• Work on 3D rendering, scene management, camera controls, object interaction, animation, lighting, and performance optimization.
• Identify and resolve frontend and 3D rendering bottlenecks for cross-platform performance.
• Integrate 3D visualization with backend services, simulation engines, cloud APIs, and telemetry sources.
• Collaborate with engineers, UX/UI designers, product managers, and QA to deliver scalable simulation experiences.
• Mentor teammates, share frontend and 3D engineering knowledge, and maintain technical docs.
