Job summary

HP Inc. is seeking a Cloud Development Engineer to build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs. You will work across teams to implement end-to-end features, integrate with databases, and optimize performance in cloud and on-prem environments.

The role requires strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, experience with microservices, AWS services, containers, and IaC tools. A four-year degree in CS or related field is preferred. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of software development experience.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of version control systems, preferably Git.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and debugging practices.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ/AMQP) is a plus.
• Experience or familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, SNS, SQS, IAM).
• Infra-as-code (Terraform/Terragrunt)
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Understanding distributed systems and scalable architecture.
• Full Stack Development a plus
• Datadog dashboard observability

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end features.
• Integrate with databases and external services, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization efforts.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support application deployment in cloud and local environments.
• Maintains operating systems, application software, and system management tools with independence.
• Monitors and tests application performance and identifies bottlenecks and fixes.
• Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for subsystems of systems software.
• Writes testing plans, debugging, and documentation for code and integration.
• Creates and maintains detailed technical documentation including system diagrams and design specs.
