Job summary

CalAmp is seeking a Sr. Architect, Software Engineering with 7–10 years of experience to lead design and development of scalable, secure software systems.

You will define architecture, guide the team, and collaborate with PMs and product owners to translate use cases into robust applications. Responsibilities include setting coding standards, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices across DevOps, QA, and deployments.

Qualifications

• Expert in Java and Object Oriented Programming
• Expert in Cloud Native design principles and applications security
• Experience developing RESTful web APIs
• Expert in Hibernate, Spring Core, and dependency injection
• Experience with AWS products including Containers, Serverless, and AI/ML
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Elasticsearch and Redis
• Experience supporting high-availability, real-time AWS applications
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and software design patterns
• Ability to write clean, secure Java code and documentation
• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent, authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Manage and promote best practices within the software team across design, development, QA, version control, deployments and maintenance
• Collaborate with project managers and product owners to translate use cases into functional applications
• Develop software requirements, architectural guidance, and select technologies for robust, scalable systems
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Troubleshoot and mitigate issues, optimize performance and ensure responsiveness
• Identify bottlenecks and implement monitoring and metrics for the applications
• Create architecture documentation and standards for the development team
• Mentor junior engineers and lead architectural reviews and knowledge sharing
• Evaluate third-party tools and platforms for cost, performance, and compatibility
• Foster innovation and drive roadmap evolution for the architecture
