Job summary

City of Alexandria seeks an experienced Cloud Architect Engineer to shape the City’s cloud, collaboration, and identity environment. This role sets technical standards, drives modernization, and builds a secure, automated foundation trusted by City departments daily.

The Cloud Architect Engineer collaborates with ITS teams to translate business needs into scalable cloud solutions. A strong balance of security with usability and stakeholder communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Four-Year College Degree; five+ years firewall and security networking experience.
• Experience with VoIP design and configuration (3+ years).
• Experience in DHCP/DNS design and operation (3+ years).

Responsibilities

• Architect and administer enterprise collaboration, messaging platforms. Design, implement, and optimize cloud-based collaboration and messaging services.
• Oversee secure communication and data protection practices. Develop and maintain secure configurations.
• Lead identity and access lifecycle management across cloud platforms. Implement orchestration patterns.
• Architect and administer enterprise authentication and access control solutions (SSO, MFA, OAuth/OIDC, CA, RBAC).
• Support legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations (FOIA, CJIS, NIST, HIPAA).
• Evaluate licensing, service utilization, interoperability, and cost efficiency via automated reporting.
