Job summary

The City of Alexandria, VA is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect Engineer to shape the direction of the City's cloud, collaboration, and identity environment. This role sets technical standards, drives modernization, and builds a secure, automated foundation for City departments.

Responsibilities include architecting enterprise cloud environments with automation, implementing SSO/MFA/OAuth, and ensuring regulatory compliance across FOIA, CJIS, NIST, and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• Five or more years of experience with firewall technologies, advanced network and server support, and VOIP/dns/dhcp design.

Responsibilities

• Architect and administer enterprise collaboration, communication, and productivity platforms.
• Oversee secure communication and data protection practices.
• Lead identity and access lifecycle management across cloud platforms.
• Architect and administer enterprise authentication and access control solutions (SSO, MFA, OAuth/OIDC, Conditional Access, RBAC).
• Support FOIA, CJIS, NIST, and HIPAA compliance for cloud services and identity systems.
• Evaluate licensing, service utilization, interoperability, and cost efficiency with automated reporting.
