Job summary

City of Alexandria seeks an experienced Cloud Architect Engineer to shape the city’s cloud, collaboration, and identity environment. This role sets technical standards, drives modernization, and builds secure, automated foundations for City departments.

Collaboration with ITS and various city stakeholders is essential. The position requires strong technical judgment, balance of security with usability, and proven ability to translate business needs into scalable cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in cloud architecture and identity management.
• Experience with enterprise collaboration systems and governance workflows.
• Knowledge of SSO, MFA, OAuth/OIDC, Conditional Access, and identity protection policies.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and hybrid identity integration.

Responsibilities

• Architect and administer enterprise cloud-based collaboration, messaging, and productivity platforms.
• Oversee secure communication and data protection practices; maintain secure configurations.
• Lead identity and access lifecycle management across cloud platforms.
• Implement SSO, MFA, OAuth/OIDC integrations, and RBAC models.
• Support compliance obligations (FOIA, CJIS, NIST, HIPAA) for cloud services.
• Evaluate licensing, service utilization, interoperability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Cloud Architect role.
