Job summary

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) in North Carolina seeks a Cloud Architect to design cloud environments, establish governance, and drive secure, scalable agency systems. You will translate business needs into cloud options, review vendor designs, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.

You will collaborate with managers, analysts, developers, and infrastructure staff to deliver cost-aware, compliant cloud solutions and maintain architectural standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or closely related field with six years IT experience including four years cloud architecture.
• Or an associate degree with seven years IT experience including five years cloud architecture.
• Experience evaluating cloud migration, modernization, integration, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design cloud environments, workloads, integrations, and platform services.
• Establish governance practices for cloud provisioning, security baselines, access management, tagging, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and lifecycle controls.
• Evaluate architectural risks, cost drivers, operational impacts, and compliance considerations.
• Consult with managers, analysts, developers, infrastructure staff, vendors, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into cloud architecture options.
• Review proposed technical solutions and migration plans for alignment with agency standards.
