Job summary

WireCo in Rosenberg, Texas is seeking a Closing Machine Operator to set up, load and operate the closing machine, and to ensure rope production meets quality specifications while maintaining personal and coworker safety.

You will record setup information, load bobbins, thread the machine, adjust tensions, inspect components, and perform duties in compliance with work instructions and quality standards on a 10–12 hour shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; basic literacy and math proficiency.
• Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for long shifts.
• Ability to learn to use calipers, micrometers, tape measure and feeler gauge.

Responsibilities

• Record set-up information at the start of an order.
• Remove empty bobbins and load full bobbins using lifting devices and the let-off stand.
• Thread the closing machine and secure a hitch to the rope, ensuring strands are in place.
• Set the proper rope-lay as required.
• Secure, install and adjust dies, pre-forming head, crushing rollers, and post-forming roller as required by the order.
• Adjust tensions and die pressure at the beginning of an order and throughout the run.
• Inspect and change tensioning devices as needed.
• Inspect the set-change, including cutting a strand for helix-height measurement before approval.
• Start lube pump as required by the order; maintain a safe and clean workplace.
• Perform all duties per work instructions and quality standards.
