Job summary

RI International is seeking a Clinician II to join our Crisis team in Durham, NC. This full-time, non-exempt role requires a Master’s degree and licensure in a behavioral health field, with experience in recovery-oriented counseling and assessment.

The Clinician II will develop recovery service plans, provide individual and group counseling, and collaborate with teams to support client goals in treatment and recovery. Strong documentation and de-escalation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Associate Licensure in good standing in an applicable Behavioral Health field required.
• State professional certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Guest care and advocacy: act as the mental health professional for individuals until enrolled in services at another agency; conduct assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Compliance and risk management: determine provisional diagnoses, obtain documentation of medical necessity, and submit authorizations promptly; complete incident reports.
• Documentation: complete clinical documentation as required and adhere to policies; maintain HIPAA-compliant records.
• Additional duties: perform other related tasks as assigned.

Summary of Job:

The Clinician II develops a recovery service plan and uses recovery-oriented therapeutic counseling to engage individuals in their individual recovery journey. The Clinician II also orients individuals to the program by collaborating and assessing needs, identifying challenges and facilitating the development of goals in the treatment and recovery process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Guest Care & Advocacy:
  • Serves as the mental health professional for individuals until they are enrolled in services at another community agency, when applicable.
  • Conducts thorough clinical assessments and treatment plans for services.
  • Assesses the individual’s needs and provides appropriate support and referral.
  • Provides short-and long-term recovery-oriented therapeutic counseling and education, on a group or individual basis.
  • Provides family education and family counseling.
  • Facilitates recovery education courses.
• Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Determines a provisional diagnosis, obtains documentation of medical necessity and submits authorizations for service in a timely fashion.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Complete Incident Reports according to policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.

  • Performs other related duties assigned.

• Education/Licenses:
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.

• Driving Requirements:
  • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations’ driving policy.
  • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
• Miscellaneous Requirements:
  • Travel required based on business need.
  • Must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
  • Successful complete and meet all requirements of the comprehensive credentialing process.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
