Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern Rockies seeks a Clinician to provide clinical and education-based treatment within a veteran residential program. You will evaluate residents, prepare psychosocial histories, assessments, and discharge summaries, and deliver individual counseling as part of person-centered care.

Your role includes group counseling, de-escalation support, and collaboration with staff and community resources to ensure coordinated services for residents.

Qualifications

• Fully licensed in Montana or eligible for licensure as LCPC/LCSW/LBSW/LMSW/LCSW.
• Advanced degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field from CACREP/CORE/CSWE accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
• Provide individual counseling and facilitate group education sessions; document activities promptly.
• Assist with de-escalation and uphold client care policies and standards.
• Coordinate services with staff and community resources for residents.
• Attend staff and ISP meetings and provide follow-up services post-discharge.

Ensures treatment practices are in accordance with accreditation and organizational standards, and are aligned with person-centered care.Essential FunctionsProvides comprehensive mental health evaluations, prepares detailed reports with findings and recommendations, and ensures timely completion of all clinical documentation, including psychosocial histories, assessments, treatment plans, admission/ discharge summaries, other chart-related documents, and correspondence for assigned residents.Provide individual counseling and facilitate educational and counseling groups as assigned; accurately and promptly chart these activities in client recordsAssist with De-escalation as needed.Understand and enforce expectations and policies related to client careStrive to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areasAssist residents in understanding and completing therapeutic change objective-driven treatment plansWork cooperatively with necessary staff members, other community resources, and referral sources to coordinate services to clientsTo ensure the smooth functioning of therapeautic and Independence Hall operations, the licensed clinician will attend staff meetings and ISP meetings with client.Upon discharge, the clinician will provide follow along services to residents who discharged successfully from Independence Hall and have moved into the community.CompetenciesEffective communicator; assertive when necessaryEthical practiceHighly confidentialCalm under pressure and in crisisInteracts with patients and team members in a professional mannerDemonstrate exceptional time management skills to stay organized and meet tight deadlinesContinuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of servant leadership and our cultural valuesProficient in the use of computer software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite and Zoom.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a veteran residential transitional program. This position would require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, bending or stooping as necessary, and performing work at a computer for extended periods.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position; the schedule includes evenings, weekends, and on-call rotational work.TravelMinimal travel is expected for this position.Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility QualificationsFully licensed as a LCPC, LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW, through the Montana Board of Behavioral Health.ORPh.D. or Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or related field from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
