Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern Rockies is seeking a Clinician to provide and coordinate clinical and education-based treatment services within a residential or outpatient setting. This role ensures practices align with accreditation and person-centered care.

The clinician conducts comprehensive evaluations, develops treatment plans, maintains timely documentation, and collaborates with staff and community resources to support patients throughout their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• Fully certified as a CSW, CAP, or CAPA through the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board, or eligible for licensure if current certification is out-of-state.
• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or related field from CACREP/CORE/CSWE accredited program.
• Meet qualifications required for a substance abuse professional, Clinician, or assistant by Wyoming's Division of Behavioral Health Standards for the Operation of Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs

Responsibilities

• Provides mental health and substance abuse evaluations, prepares reports with findings and recommendations, and ensures timely completion of clinical documentation.
• Supports daytime on-call and after-hours on-call duties as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and enforce patient care policies.
• Assist patients in understanding and completing therapeutic change objective-driven treatment plans.
• Coordinate services with staff and community resources to support patient care.
• Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and clinical supervision to ensure clinic operations.

Summary/Objective

The Clinician provides and coordinates clinical and education-based treatment services throughout an individual's treatment. Ensures treatment practices are in accordance with accreditation and organizational standards, and are aligned with person-centered care.

Essential Functions

• Provides comprehensive mental health and substance abuse evaluations, prepares detailed reports with findings and recommendations, and ensures timely completion of all clinical documentation, including psychosocial histories, assessments, treatment plans, admission/ discharge summaries, other chart-related documents, and correspondence for assigned patientsProvide individual counseling and facilitate educational and counseling groups as assigned; accurately and promptly chart these activities in patient records


• Support with daytime on-call and after hours on-call support, as needed


• Understand and enforce expectations and policies related to patient care


• Maintain patient confidentiality


• Strive to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas


• Assist patients in understanding and completing therapeutic change objective-driven treatment plans


• Work cooperatively with necessary staff members, other community resources, and referral sources to coordinate services to patients


• To ensure the smooth functioning of clinic operations, the certified clinician will attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and clinical supervision

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.

Work Environment

This job operates in a residential treatment facility or an outpatient clinic setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position would require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, bending or stooping as necessary, and performing work at a computer for extended periods.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; the schedule includes evenings, weekends, and on-call rotational work.

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education, Experience, Or Eligibility Qualifications

OR

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or related field from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. (CACREP), Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) or Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program in counseling


• Meet qualifications required for a substance abuse professional, Clinician, or assistant by the State of Wyoming's Division of Behavioral Health Standards for the Operation of Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs

Preferred Education And Experience

• Five years of post-certification clinical experience, with some of this experience directly related to serving persons with addiction disorders: alcohol, drugs, and gambling.
