Charter Oak Health Center Inc. is seeking a dependable driver for a mobile Behavioral Health vehicle based in Hartford, CT. The role delivers patient care at outreach sites, maintains and cleans the van, tracks mileage, and ensures safety for patients and staff during transport.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma, knowledge of DOT regulations, and a CDL license. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are preferred, with strong customer service skills and the ability to handle

Responsibilities

  • Drive the mobile Behavioral Health vehicle to outreach sites and return to base.
  • Maintain and clean the van; record mileage and report maintenance needs.
  • Ensure safety of patients, staff and the vehicle during transport.
  • Greet patients and visitors professionally and maintain a calm environment.
  • Assist with site upkeep and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).
  • Report concerns or issues to supervisor and ensure timely follow-up.

Job Location: Hartford, CT 06106

Salary Range: $26.00 - $29.00 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY

Drive mobile Behavioral Health vehicle from overnight assigned parking to various outreach sites for the delivery of behavioral health patient care to community outreach sites. Maintain the vehicle, ensure the safety of the vehicle, patients and staff. Provide a secure and clean environment in the van for patients and staff.

Essential Position Duties
  • Conduct routine visual inspections of the vehicle at the beginning and close of each shift to ensure proper and safe operations.
  • Record mileage at the beginning and close of each shift
  • Responsible for general upkeep of the vehicle. Ability to identify mechanical problems and report immediately to supervisor, track/schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Maintain a controlled, orderly environment during vehicle operation.
  • Ensure clean water tanks are full and gray water tanks emptied as needed.
  • Monitor gasoline fuel tank — refuel as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping vehicle clean both inside and out.
  • Performs ground keeping maintenance of COHC sites, as needed, when van is not on schedule.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.
  • Must maintain appropriate attendance.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain adequate climate in vehicle
  • Activate wheel chair lift as needed.
  • Promote customer service by resolving client concerns in timely manner
  • Performs any other agency related duties as assigned
  • Demonstrates promptness at work
  • Proactive in identifying potential problems and immediately report concerns to supervisor
Compliance Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Director of Facilities,assists with ensuring quality and regulatory compliance on the van.
  • Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct andHIPAA.
  • Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
  • Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance in accordance with COHC Compliance Re porting Process.
  • Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
  • Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Core Competencies/Skill Sets
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  • Must have the temperament to maintain a state of calmness in the face of adversity and danger.
  • Bilingual in both Spanish and English preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse population in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner.
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations
Certification/Licensure

CDL License required.
