Job summary

Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, seeks a Validation Specialist on-site in Palo Alto, CA, to represent clinical users and ensure our radiation oncology products meet safety and usability requirements.

You will collaborate with Product Management, UX and Design Engineering, develop validation plans, and travel as needed to support global validation efforts, with focus on Oncology Information Systems and Treatment Planning/Delivery products.

Qualifications

• Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist with 5 years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience.
• Degree (B.A., B.S., or its foreign degree equivalent) plus 5 years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian’s products.
• Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflows in a radiation therapy center; proficient with IMRT and VMAT, and knowledge of SRS/SBRT and radiation safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure validation is complete; ensure Varian products are safe and meet user needs with objective evidence.
• Evaluate clinical practices with PM, UX and Design Engineering to define new product requirements.
• Provide feedback and improve design, development, and validation of radiation oncology products.
• Support development/maintenance of Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning, and Treatment Delivery systems.
• Define strategy for thorough design validation of new products.
• Develop and execute design validation plans to meet requirements.
• Participate in requirements analysis, use case development, and risk hazard analysis.
• Write test designs and establish traceability to requirements and risk mitigations.
• Collaborate with verification engineers, product marketing and management to resolve usability and scope issues.
• Travel 5-25% to support validation efforts.
