Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks a Clinical Trial Financial Specialist to support the Office of Clinical and Community Trials. The role focuses on financial tracking, budget and contract support, data management, and reporting to enable compliant study oversight.

The position collaborates across the Financial Management and Budget & Contract Management teams, ensuring accurate data and adherence to sponsor requirements while supporting trial activity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or three+ years of relevant experience.
• 1–2 years in clinical research conduct, regulatory compliance, billing, or budget/contract management preferred.
• Ability to interpret CTA cost language and study protocol information.
• Strong understanding of research billing compliance preferred.
• Experience in healthcare finance (billing, accounts, reconciliations) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and ability to manage large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Financial Management payment inbox, tracking, reconciliation, and unapplied payments.
• Support financial operations through data entry, record maintenance, payment processing, and tracking.
• Prepare, maintain, and report financial, study, and enrollment metrics for monitoring and compliance.
• Perform data validation, QA reviews, and data cleanup for accuracy and integrity.
• Assist with funding proposals, awards, and study records in research administration systems.
• Monitor inquiries from sponsors, investigators, and internal stakeholders.
• Triage and respond to budget/contract management inbox messages and ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain documentation for budgets, contracts, SOPs, and other records.
• Collaborate with Research Operations and related teams to enable startup, budgeting, contract execution, and ongoing management.
• Identify discrepancies and contribute to process improvements.
