The Clinical Therapist II treats patients by utilizing a variety of modalities as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical treatment team. Also provides psychological/social interventions that support patients and families relating to behavioral health, levels of care, hospitalization, disease and illness, wellness, and recovery.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides a comprehensive assessment of a patient's psychosocial needs, develops treatment plans, and conducts reviews based on findings and department policy.
  2. Provides effective behavioral health treatment and education to patients, including assessment or therapy (individual and/or group), and shares information with staff, families, and other approved agencies.
  3. Completes all documentation and reports in a timely manner according to department and hospital policies.
  4. Provides services in accordance with licensure regulations defined by the respective licensure board, e.g., ASWB or NBCC.
  5. Utilizes and interprets information regarding patient needs, growth and development, and evidence-based treatment options to develop specific treatment plans.
  6. Provides case management services/assessment as warranted.
  7. Assesses Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and provides information, education, and referrals as appropriate.
  8. Collaborates with patients, families, and support persons to develop comprehensive discharge plans.
  9. Reassesses and revises treatment plans based on ongoing evaluation.
  10. Maintains protected patient health information according to legal and institutional policies.
  11. Assists team members in emergency responses.
  12. Has knowledge of community resources and refers patients when appropriate.
  13. Supervises social work/counseling students during their field placements.
  14. Modifies care based on patient needs, including communication and instruction tailored to patient demographics.
  15. Performs physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and standing as required.
  16. Adheres to organizational competencies and receives supervision as per licensure requirements.
  17. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years post-licensure experience.
  • Ability to perform psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, disease management, differential diagnoses, and treatment techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Excellent follow-through, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
Preferred:
  • Guidance/mentorship skills for team members.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Professional Counselor License, NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
