Clinical Therapist, Behavioral Health Practice

Care New England is seeking a Licensed Independent Professional to join their Outpatient Behavioral Health Program at Butler Hospital. The Clinical Therapist will provide care to patients presenting with various issues in individual, family, couple, or group settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of patients under the supervision of the Program Director.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of psychosocial problems to assist patients and families in resolving personal and environmental issues related to psychiatric conditions, enabling patients to reach their highest psychosocial functioning.
  • Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
  • Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM V).
  • Conduct and document mental status examinations.
  • Assess clinical emergencies, including suicidal ideation and risk to others.
  • Gather relevant data from collateral sources following confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to organizational policies and legal standards.
  • Develop and present clear clinical formulations based on behavioral data and relevant theories, considering psychosocial and family factors.
  • Utilize psychiatric consultation and intervention when appropriate.
  • Determine appropriate levels of care and facilitate referrals within the continuum of care.
  • Complete documentation in line with Health Information Services and contractual obligations.
  • Write progress notes using appropriate formats.
  • Develop and implement care plans with ongoing input from consumers.
  • Create specific, behaviorally-oriented treatment plans, obtaining patient signatures.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained per policy and legal requirements.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues, patients, and the public.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, external agencies, and the community.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Maintain licensure by completing required Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree and independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCDP) required.
  • Independent licensure is mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Must be organized, calm during crises, and demonstrate sound clinical judgment.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex variables with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, or visual formats.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly talk or hear, stand, sit, use hands for handling objects, reach with arms, and occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required, along with specific visual capabilities.
