I-Am-Able-Center-For-Family-Develop in Chicago seeks a licensed therapist to provide direct clinical services to individuals, couples, families and groups using a multi-systemic approach. The role includes conducting intakes, assessments, and ongoing treatment across supported programs in-office with potential home visits when clinically appropriate.

The therapist will maintain up to 20 active clients, document treatment plans and progress, and coordinate with DCFS, Medicaid, and other agencies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field.
  • License: LSW/LPC preferred; LCSW for Supervisory position.
  • Two year minimum experience in alcohol and drug counseling, children/adolescent counseling, marriage and family therapy.

The therapist is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families and groups through clinical sessions, family monitoring, interventions and follow-up using a multi-systemic approach. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required for the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide direct clinical treatment to individuals, couples, families, and groups using a variety of modalities. Services are provided in the office. Home visitation is offered when clinically appropriate.
  2. Maintain an active caseload of no more than 20 active clients in one or more of the following programs: DCFS, Sliding-fee Scale, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Medicaid, and USEP.
  3. Conduct intake appointments, client orientation, and mental health assessments for new clients.
  4. Understand case management needs and facilitate linkages/referrals. This requires knowledge of federal, state, and local resources of various agencies providing services in the community.
  5. Provide advocacy for clients and maintain communication with providers including, but not limited to DCFS, court personnel, schools, medical providers, etc.
  6. Prepare clinical documentation and paperwork/reports, such as a client genogram, timeline, mental health assessment, additional assessment/evaluation tools, daily progress notes, treatment plans, transfer and closing summaries, weekly caseload lists, monthly statistical reports, etc. for Clinical Director.
  7. Participate in agency and community meetings, such as all staff meetings, TR4IM, general and committee meetings, required funder meetings, and other meetings as assigned by supervisor or Clinical Director, including systemic case presentations and in-person group supervision.
  8. Maintain ongoing communication regarding treatment process with supervisor or Clinical Director.
  9. Provide team/peer/intern leadership as assigned.
  10. Attend continuous workshops and trainings for professional development.
  11. Become cross-trained in various agency wide programs and functions in order to meet the agency needs and interests. Assignments can be intermittent or continuous.
  12. Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  13. Excellent time management skills and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner are required.
  14. Ability to work non-traditional hours is required.Review client medical records to develop appropriate plans and interventions.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and Supervisor.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  2. Knowledge of Federal, state, local, and private social services regulations and compliance.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Data Entry software required
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Two (2) year minimum experience in alcohol and drug counseling, children and adolescent counseling, marriage, and family therapy.
  6. Current status as rostered Child-Parent Psychotherapy preferred.
  7. Knowledge of working in an urban community is required.
  8. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  9. LCSW, for Supervisory position, with minimum two years supervisory experience
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. A master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field.
  2. License: LSW/LPC preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  1. It is required that the therapist have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle with current insurance, when driving for agency purposes. (If transporting DCFS clients)
  2. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  3. Spend up to 50% of time working on the computer.
  4. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
