Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Neurological Institute’s M80 Neuro Transitional Care Unit provides care for neurological med/surg patients needing stepdown and intermediate levels of care, performing procedures such as ICP monitoring, seizure monitoring, lumbar punctures and central/arterial line placements. A caregiver works day shifts 7:00am–7:30pm, alternating weekends and holidays.

You will provide or assist with patient care under an RN, report changes, and help keep rooms clean.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross within new hire period
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience
• Nursing students evaluating clinical rotation may substitute
• Military experience (HM/68W/4N0X1) may be considered

Cleveland Clinic’s M80 Neuro Transitional Care Unit is a highly specialized and diverse unit that provides treatment for neurological med/surg patients needing both stepdown and intermediate levels of care. This unit commonly performs complex neurological procedures, including intracranial pressure monitoring, seizure monitoring, lumbar punctures and central/arterial line placements.
A caregiver in this position works day 7:00am—7:30pm every other weekend, every other holiday. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period (Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire)
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25
Maximum hourly: $25.95
