Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, OH seeks a Clinical Technician to assist with basic patient care and maintain clean, safe rooms. You will support a dedicated nursing team within a Magnet Hospital environment and gain hands-on experience for career growth.

Eligible caregivers may receive tuition reimbursement and access to comprehensive benefits. The role runs 36 hours weekly, days 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., with weekend rotation and two holidays per year.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification required or obtained within new hire period.
• 1 year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with clinical rotation OR military medical experience.
• Competencies in professional, technical and clinical knowledge are expected to be demonstrated safely.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and patient weight under RN supervision.
• Assist with personal care and room cleanliness.
• Perform or assist with point-of-care testing and dressing changes.
• Assist with patient transfers/transport and monitor external devices.
• Assist with phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs and Foley catheter removal as directed.

Hillcrest Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is the only Level II Trauma Center on Cleveland’s east side. The ED provides emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. A caregiver in this position works days 36 hours per week from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with weekend rotation and two holidays per year requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period *Nursing students must obtain prior to hire
• One year of recent, full‑time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
• Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
• Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $25.95
