Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New Haven, CT is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide daily patient care under RN supervision, assist with activities of daily living, and collect vital signs.

Responsibilities include getting weights and vitals, non-sterile treatments, phlebotomy where assigned, and maintaining compassionate, patient-centered interactions with patients and families in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• CNA required or certified prior to orientation completion.
• Experience with patient care tasks and vital signs preferred.
• Ability to communicate with patients and families compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patient care activities including ADLs and comfort measures.
• Obtain weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure readings.
• Perform non-sterile treatments and specimen collection as assigned.
• Perform phlebotomy when area assignment allows.
• Demonstrate respectful, patient-centered communication with patients and families.
• Maintain involvement in ongoing education and attend mandatory inservices.
• Support the patient care team and adapt to unit needs.

Under the direct supervision of the RN or Patient Care Manager, performs duties of daily patient care which include bath and assistance with activities of daily living, data collection on weight, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements. Performs non-sterile treatments, phlebotomy (depending upon area of assignment) and EKG's. Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a CNA or complete certification prior to completion of orientation or has completed one clinical nursing school rotation and currently enrolled in a nursing program.

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.
