Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant or nursing student to assist with daily patient care under RN supervision. You will help with activities of daily living, take vital signs, and collect data essential for patient monitoring.

This role emphasizes PFCC principles, compassionate patient care, and flexible scheduling. Training and in-service participation are expected as part of orientation and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a CNA or complete certification prior to completion of orientation or has completed one clinical nursing school rotation and currently enrolled in a nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Collects data: weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements.
• Performs non-sterile treatments such as applying cold compresses.
• Performs specimen collection/procedures and phlebotomy where applicable.
• Demonstrates respectful interpersonal interactions with patients and families.
• Maintains active involvement in educational activities related to role, including mandatory inservices.
• Performs other responsibilities as requested and is flexible with time.

Under the direct supervision of the RN or Patient Care Manager, performs duties of daily patient care which include bath and assistance with activities of daily living, data collection on weight, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements. Performs non-sterile treatments, phlebotomy (depending upon area of assignment) and EKG's.
