Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, MI is seeking a Clinical Tech for the Observation Unit's Critical Decision Unit. This role provides hands-on patient care under the supervision of RNs and physicians, helping with vitals, mobility, and comfort.

You'll perform phlebotomy, IV access, basic clinical tasks, and assist with daily activities while delivering culturally sensitive care. A sign-on bonus is eligible; schedule is 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, 24 hours per week, with every other weekend and

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current nursing student (two completed semesters) or graduate of LPN/EMT/Paramedic/Medical Assistant program.
• Certified in Phlebotomy.
• Previous Clinical Tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Collecting and recording essential patient data—vitals, intake/output—with precision.
• Responding to patient needs and partnering with RNs to ensure comfort and safety.
• Noticing changes and reporting promptly.
• Supporting mobility by helping patients ambulate and move around.
• Assisting with oxygen devices under RN direction and applying post-pacemaker slings.
• Performing basic clinical tasks and documenting results.
• Providing help with daily activities and supporting bedside procedures.

Location: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, 205 N East Ave., Jackson, MI 49201

Schedule: 24 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day impact includes:

• Collecting and recording essential patient data - vitals, food and fluid intake/output, and more - with precision and care.
• Responding to patient needs and partnering with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Noticing the little changes that can make a big difference - and reporting them promptly.
• Supporting mobility by helping patients ambulate and get where they need to go.
• Assisting with oxygen devices under RN direction and applying slings post-pacemaker procedures.
• Performing clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and documenting results.
• Providing help with daily activities, like dressing, meals, and hygiene.
• Supporting RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
• Delivering culturally sensitive care to a wide range of patients - from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Promoting positive experiences for patients and their families through kind, respectful interaction.
• Performing phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care.

Qualifications - External

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

• Current nursing student (minimum two completed semesters)
• Graduate of an LPN, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program
• Certified in Phlebotomy
• Previous Clinical Tech experience

Also Required

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Experience in an acute care setting (preferred, not required)

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Valid BLS certification (or must be obtained during Patient Care Orientation)
