Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking a Clinical Tech to support nursing staff in a 22-bed Medical ICU. The role involves vitals collection, patient comfort, mobility assistance, and phlebotomy under RN direction. Shift is 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 24 hours per week with alternating weekends.

Required: HS diploma and either nursing student progress, LPN/EMT/paramedic/MA training, phlebotomy certification, or prior Clinical Tech experience. BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two semesters nursing student or RN program graduate.
• LPN/EMT/Paramedic/Medical Assistant program graduate.
• Certified in Phlebotomy.
• Clinical Tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect vitals, intake/output data with accuracy.
• Assist RNs to ensure comfort and safety.
• Identify changes and report promptly.
• Help with patient mobility and ambulation.
• Assist with oxygen devices under RN direction.
• Perform Foley insertion, bladder scans, glucose checks.
• Assist with daily activities and hygiene.
• Support RNs during equipment use.
• Provide culturally sensitive care across ages.
• Perform phlebotomy and IV access with care.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Eligible for $1000 SIGN-ON BONUS– Join Our Team as a Clinical Tech at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital!

Department: Medical ICU

Location: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, 205 N East Ave., Jackson, MI 49201

Schedule: 24 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (2x12 hours shifts)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Your day-to-day impact includes:

• Collecting and recording essential patient data – vitals, food and fluid intake/output, and more – with precision and care.
• Responding to patient needs and partnering with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Noticing the little changes that can make a big difference – and reporting them promptly.
• Supporting mobility by helping patients ambulate and get where they need to go.
• Assisting with oxygen devices under RN direction and applying slings post-pacemaker procedures.
• Performing clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and documenting results.
• Providing help with daily activities, like dressing, meals, and hygiene.
• Supporting RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
• Delivering culturally sensitive care to a wide range of patients — from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Promoting positive experiences for patients and their families through kind, respectful interaction.
• Performing phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

• Current nursing student who has minimally completed two semesters or has graduated from a Registered Nurse program
• Graduate of an LPN, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program
• Certified in Phlebotomy
• Previous Clinical Tech experience

Also required:

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Experience in an acute care setting (preferred, not required)

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Valid BLS certification (or must be obtained during Patient Care Orientation)
